Restaurant: Porterhouse

Appetizers and mail meals at porterhouse

A couple weeks back, we visited a restaurant called “Porterhouse”. It’s in Telmond (Israel), and specializes (not so surprisingly) in meat. We were forewarned that if we eat there, we should stick to the meat dishes and not try the fish. We also heard that the porterhouse steak is rather ironically not their best dish. After trying the food for ourselves, we can recommend it.

We arrived well before the dinner rush hour, so we had the place for ourselves. Service was prompt and friendly, and they even made an effort to speak English to me. As appetizers, we ordered the house sausage and liver. It was extremely delicious. Amusingly, the presentation of the sausage reminded us a bit of dog-droppings sprinkled lightly with some grass, but the taste made up for it. The liver was juicy, flavoured, and almost melted in your mouth. The accompanying sauce was also excellent.
We decided to share a prime rib as a main meal. It arrived sizzling and pre-cut on a black pan. We can really recommend this one! I had the mangold as a side dish. It was neatly wrapped in twine and flavoured with herbs and salt.
I heard they do lunch deals, but if you come there towards the evening on a weekend like we did, the price won’t be overly cheap. The food was also great, so I can thoroughly recommend the Porterhouse restaurant for special occasions or romantic dinners.
