Apple Pie Bars

I am baking sweet, sugary sugary death!

I found this recipe on recipezaar for apple pie bars.

I started baking it, unsure of what exactly apple pie bars are, but wanting to do it because we bought some cheap non-Kellogs version of Corn Flakes, and neither of us quite like it. I don’t get it. Why do all the other brands come nowhere near as tasting as good in the case of Corn Flakes? It makes me really scared of whatever evilness Kellogs is stuffing in there…

I didn’t realize that “apple pie bars” are a synonym for “sweet sugary death”, because this recipe contains not only 1 cup of granulated sugar, but also 1 cup of powdered sugar for glazing. (In addition to 2 tablespoons, but compared to the huge amount of 2 cups of sugar, who’s counting?)

It’s simmering in the oven, chilling out, trying to get a tan right now… and the scent is starting to be really delicious. I think that before the wait is up, I shall have gone out of my mind on cinnamon-apple-scented goodness.

Mmm.. can’t wait!

Anyway, here follows the recipe:

  3. With fork, stir in milk mixture until dough forms a ball; divide into halves.

  4. Roll out half of the dough, on lightly floured surface, into a 15x10-inch rectangle. Place on bottom of ungreased 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan.

  8. Roll remaining half of dough into a 15 1/2-10 1/2-inch rectangle; place over apples.
